When time is short—when you know Jesus is coming soon—when multitudes are hurtling toward eternal condemnation—what do you do?
As we approached the end of our time in Cuba, we decided to do not one evangelistic campaign but three!
Result: 2,400 decisions for Christ in one week.
We also continued planting churches every month, as always—in January alone, we planted 33 new churches across all three regions of the country. Many thousands heard the gospel, and 14,000 decisions were made for Christ (in addition to the 2,400 in the three end-of-month campaigns). The vast majority of new converts make up new congregations.
What a great, joyful start to our year of ministry together! Thank you for praying and giving, participating personally in the 2026 harvest!
Cuba was only the beginning. In your generous and prayerful support, you’ve already been to Spain and back as well!
We opened the New Year with a dynamic time of teaching apologetics to our students in three cities. One big, important focus for this generation: the truth about evolution, a false teaching that has run rampant for the last 160 years.
The U.S. has also suffered a massive negative impact through these wrong teachings. I urge you to share the truth with your own high school kids, or your friends who are in doubt, or those who have been duped by these falsehoods.
Many “science” books sell the erroneous theory of evolution with no evidence. Lee Strobel shares angrily in his book The Case for a Creator that he was deceived by evolutionism and followed it blindly into atheism.
Our students likewise were very angry to find out that they’ve been believing evolutionism and trying to marry it with the Bible as the “scientific explanation” of Creation—God somehow used evolution to bring about the universe and our world.
That false theory—known as theistic evolution, evolutionary creationism, or God-guided evolution—is widely touted. It strives to reconcile traditional religious faith with modern ideas of biological evolution and an old earth. The only problem is that there is no supporting evidence for evolution! Yes, books publish it as such, but their evidence has been manipulated intentionally in an attempt to prove their point.
(I urge you to read Chapter 2 of The Case for a Creator by Lee Strobel. In it, the star-witness-scientist Dr. Jonathan Wells, a highly respected leading scientist at Berkley, exposes all the falsehoods in the “pillars” of the theory.)
Meanwhile, as I write these words, I’m preparing to leave for Nepal. We’ve already begun training and tutoring children there . . . children left behind by Hinduism because they were not born into the top castes. They’re taught the horrible lie that they must spend six lifetimes hoping to ascend the ladder of the caste system so they can be favored.
But Christianity is coming along and sharing the biblical truth that we are made in God’s image, every last one of us. Parents are witnessing the “miracle” of their kids making excellent grades, and becoming star students! Christianity again points the way!
Here’s a brief look behind the scenes:
In our ranks in India, a growing number of former Hindu monks are joining our ranks. One of them, now working with us in planting Christian churches, still wears the “buzz cut” of his time as a priest.
I asked him what he finally understood that led him to receive the Lord. He paused and then conceded: “We all know that Christianity is based on truth and history. We know which one is the better system. The hard part to overcome is the death to family and friends in our old system. Once we decide to give it all up, the choice is very easy.”
I was surprised to learn that British culture and the Christian system—which India absorbed in colonial days, when the United Kingdom was a Christian nation—are still treasured and respected. I would have expected Gandhi’s movement to inspire the common people to shed any Western influence.
Yet in reality, most of what works well in India was brought about by their relationship with Christian England. I’ve discovered that pointing this out can open a person’s eyes to the Christian faith. In a cab with a friend from the West, I made this case to the driver.
My friend was mortified, expecting an adverse reaction.
But the opposite was true. The driver softened his position and agreed that I had stated a completely objective reality. India’s people still appreciate their British—and Christian—link!
We’ve also seen that Nepal follows India, in many ways. Nepal is a very small country, especially compared to India, now the most populous nation on earth. Following India’s lead seems natural. The policies of India’s Prime Minister Modi are incorporated into Nepal on the assumption that they’re smart.
Modi wants to stamp out Christianity. The authorities in Nepal have begun to follow these policies too. But the dire needs of India are also felt in Nepal. There is a universal need for hope and help from above. As a result, the fields are white unto harvest. You and I are summoned to be Christ’s ambassadors—even in Nepal. It’s thrilling to be on His winning side!
“But thanks be to God, who always leads us in triumph in Christ, and manifests through us the sweet aroma of the knowledge of Him in every place. For we are a fragrance of Christ to God among those who are being saved and among those who are perishing.” (2 Cor. 2:14,15)
From Nepal, we need to go to Myanmar. But there are risks. The United States government has issued a Level 4 warning to Americans:
- “We continue to advise, do not travel to Myanmar. Violence, including explosions and attacks, can occur anywhere and anytime, including in Yangon. Attacks may be planned against locations that foreigners frequent, including public spaces and civilian infrastructure.”
But what can we do? Myanmar is desperately in need of the hope of the gospel. And Christ’s command is to go into ALL the world.
I have always gone into a new field of ministry to initiate the covenant with the country leader and hire the first group of workers. Was God’s strategy changing now?
Our team met to consider the options. Perhaps it would be safer to send Dr. Neil Ty, a man with top teaching credentials and great pastoring experience who has successfully led our ministry in the Philippines, with tremendous discipline and clear reporting, and will supervise our Myanmar work.
(Chhuana, the Christian leader who issued the “Macedonian call” to us from Myanmar, is a former Philippines seminary classmate of Dr. Ty’s.)
But I could not get comfortable with the idea of putting Dr. Ty at risk. So I am going. In fact, by the time you read these words, I expect to be on my way. I’ll appreciate your prayers—not only for my safety and the safety of our team, but for the overall success of the preaching of the gospel in Myanmar, where the Lord leads us.
Our initial goal: plant 100 churches. May the Lamb receive the reward of His sufferings!
How about you? How is your year so far?
I thank God for you . . . grateful that I’m not serving alone. I recognize every single day that whatever World Link accomplishes in ministry, it’s because we are standing together as a team for the Lord.
God knows this, too!
He knows the roles He has assigned to each of us in the work of the harvest.
“I planted, Apollos watered, but God was causing the growth. So then neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but God who causes the growth. Now he who plants and he who waters are one; but each will receive his own reward according to his own labor. For we are God’s fellow workers; you are God’s field, God’s building.”
(1 Cor. 3:6-9)
These are the laws of the soul harvest. The joy is that we are in it together! We’re cultivating an eternal legacy by the grace and the power of God. We’re building treasures in the heavens, where nothing can take them away from us!
“But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”
(Matt. 6:20-21)
The Word is brilliantly clear, spiritually wise, and enduring. This is the best advice for our pilgrimage in this life. We can cultivate a legacy for eternity. The world uses the term “blessings,” but it has a materialistic definition—and those “blessings” deteriorate.
What a wonderful start to 2026! And what a joy to see such a launch, on the heels of such a powerful harvest in 2025!
I’m heading to Myanmar, but we’re going together. We wouldn’t miss this for the world! May we join the Lord in this year of harvest work for the gains of eternity!
Joyful in His service,
Dr. Manny Fernandez
P.S. Let’s join the Father and the Son at their work. Give generously, as the Holy Spirit prompts you to give. Let me hear from you soon. May our heartfelt effort be worthy of the One who gave up His Son for us!
